| Born in Bohemia of a German father and a Czech mother,
educated in Vienna, Anna Chromy feels that she is a typical product of that
old multinational State, no longer existing today, the Austria of the Habsburgs.
Steeped in this Central European culture, between Prussian discipline and
Italian vivacity, Anna began her real artistic career with her installation
in Paris in 1970. Since 1980 she lives in Monaco. The works of Anna Chromy can be found in many museum and private collections. Anna Chromy hates immobility, mortal symbol. Unless this apparent lethargy appears as a prolongation, indeed a renewal, of life. Fervent about music and ballet, she loves all that sings and moves. This interior feeling alone is sufficient enought to communicate melody and movement to her art. Set in the limelight, the characters born of her immagination and fantasy, effortlessly become alive, ready to act in front of us, in a baroque, Bohemian or Venetian setting, the scenes from some opera of Mozart or an exuberant and refined commedia dell'arte. |
